Electrocardiogram Technician Program
The student will be trained to in an established standard of care
among EKG technicians to record 3-lead, 5 lead and 12 lead
reports on a patient. Emphasis will be placed on infection
prevention, proper patient identification, proper labeling of
reports, and quality assurance.
Students will be taught to calculate a patient’s heart rate from
the EKG tracing, identify artifacts from the tracing and remove
artifacts from the tracing. Upon completion of the course, the
student will be awarded a certificate of completion and will be
eligible to sit for the national certification exam.

To qualify for graduation from this program the students must demonstrate competency in each of the skills and successfully complete the externship. Graduates in this program will be qualified to take the CET National Exam and qualify to find entry-level positions in in testing facilities, including hospitals, and clinics.
